In the sweltering heat of summer, many look to the freshness of the mountains, and in the months of July and August, the hotels and other places of accommodation along the upper reaches of the River Arda are busiest. A new panoramic view will attract tourists along the trails in the Western portion of the Rhodope Mountain. A new panoramic viewing tower – Lisa Gora – opens on 6 July near the village of Mogilitsa, some 920 m. above sea level and 30 kms. to the Southwest of the town of Smolyan.

“The tourist observation tower is perched on a peak near Mogilitsa offers a breathtaking view of the Western Rhodopes, but part of Mount Pirin is also clearly visible, as are the mountains Pangaion and Falakro in Greece,” Adelin Golev from the “Fortress - Mogilitsa” tourist society says for the Bulgarian news agency BTA.

One of the preferred landmarks in the vicinity of Mogilitsa is the glass floor observation deck – Vurhut – at an altitude of 1,350 m., which is unique for the Balkans.

One fun fact is that since it opened in 2020, more than 10 couples have taken their vows there, so we could expect Lisa Gora viewing tower to follow suit. But most of all it will be a place to take our breath away as we witness the power and majesty of nature.
