President Radev urges NATO not to send troops to Ukraine

The question is not whether Ukraine will join NATO, but when. The answer depends on the theatre of war and the ability to achieve a lasting peace, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said at the opening of The Economist's 28th Governmental Roundtable, held in Greece. The president warned that NATO should not send troops into the war between Russia and Ukraine.

"I believe that keeping Bulgaria and Romania out of Schengen does not contribute to the stability of Europe, nor to the military mobility we need," Radev said. He stressed the crucial role of the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and Greece. We have invested a lot to improve our connectivity and thus join Europe's efforts for stability and prosperity, Radev said.
