Under the program of the European Civil Protection Mechanism, 240 firefighters from 4 countries arrived in Greece to help their Greek colleagues, the Bulgarian Fire Protection Directorate has reported. Due to the high temperatures and the high risk of fires, the stay of foreign fire-fighters this year has been extended to two and a half months.

The Bulgarian team is located at the airport in Thessaloniki and participates in extinguishing fires in northern Greece. In a televised poll, residents and tourists from Halkidiki thanked for the "brotherly Bulgarian help" and recalled that last year the Bulgarians also helped in a difficult situation. "Bulgarians are very good specialists", volunteers who participated in extinguishing together with them, added.
