The rowing canal in Plovdiv is hosting two world championships in canoe-kayak, the organizers have announced. From 12 to 14 July more than 300 veterans from 37 countries will be taking part in the first championship, and then from 17 to 21 July the junior and under 23 canoe sprint world championship will be taking place. The contests coincide with the celebration of the centennial anniversary of canoe-kayaking in Bulgaria, and more than 1,550 contestants are expected to arrive for the occasion. Over 800 competitors from 67 countries are to take part in the under 23 championship; Bulgaria will be represented by 9 competitors in the under 23 and 18 in the junior competition.
