Fans of Bulgarian folklore are getting together in the village of Ribaritsa near Teteven on 20 and 21 July for the 3rd national festival and the 16th edition of the festival of folklore of national customs and authentic traditional costumes in a locality called Kostina. More than 60 amateur groups and folklore ensembles from all over the country will take part in the different categories – singing, dancing, instrument playing, authentic national costumes and customs, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports.
The event is competitive, the idea being to preserve authentic traditional costumes and folklore, as well as Bulgarian tradition and customs. The organizers are inviting the participants to find what their grandmothers once made with their own hands, so that the guests to the festival may be able to see national costumes from different parts of the country, and see and hear dancing and singing from all regions of the country.
At the end of the contest programme, on 21 July, the contestants will be judged by a professional panel and, a little later, will receive their awards in the various categories. The festival is organized by Razvitie-1931 chitalishte (culture community club) in Ribaritsa village, and the mayor’s office, Ribaritsa, with the support of Teteven municipality.
