MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk of the Renew Europe Group has been elected chair of the European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee.

"Today I have been elected Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament. Whenever I have been elected to high positions, I have always said that this is a success for Bulgaria and the DPS," Kyuchyuk wrote on social media.

"The Legal Affairs Committee has an important institutional role and legislative competence in key areas. I look forward to constructive work based on the strength of the different perspectives and expertise of the committee members," he said after his election to the post.

Four other Bulgarian MEPs have been appointed as committee chairs in the European Parliament.
