Until the end of August, the exhibition “The wonders of nature: from seed to forest” is on display at the Natural History Museum in the village of Cherni Osum near Troyan.
The exposition traces the process of how a forest is born, showing the beauty of Bulgaria’s forests and the colourful flora and fauna in them, Yordanka Yakimova from the museum told the Bulgarian news agency BTA.
Visitors can marvel at the wonders of four types of forests which are priority areas for environmental conservation in Europe. The exhibition also presents the principal threats to them, the challenges in their preservation and in reforestation, as well as the most important components in afforestation as it should be done. To organize the exposition, the World Wildlife Fund, Bulgaria joined efforts with the Society of Animalists, Florists and Scientific Illustrators (DAFNI). As a result of their efforts, visitors at the exhibition will be able to see colourful illustrations of different animal and plant species in this country – from wild boars, deer, bats, to different species of birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects.
