Those wishing to participate can register just before the start but must undergo a medical examination and instructions. Dozens of swimmers take part in the event every year. The public event honors the river and is not a competition. Enthusiasts of all ages are invited to participate. The event is organized by the Municipality of Silistra and the non-profit association "Danube Club".
