"Within a few days, it is good that Bulgaria will already have a nomination for a new representative in the European Commission, let's not waste time because the portfolios are also starting to be discussed".

This was stated in Burgas by the current Bulgarian European Commissioner for Innovation, Scientific Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Iliana Ivanova. She pointed out that President Ursula von der Leyen's proposal to our country is that, if they are new candidates, they should be a man and a woman, if it is the current commissioner, it should be one person.

The deadline by which Bulgaria must offer a candidacy is August 30.

Ivanova did not specify whether there were talks with her about her nomination. "The decision is taken by the national governments. I cannot comment on any names", she was categorical, while emphasizing: "The portfolio I have is extremely important".

A few days ago, in a television interview, MEP Tsvetelina Penkova, who in July became the first female president of the European Energy Forum, said that there are indications that several influential countries within the EU would support Bulgaria in having a commissioner in a key sector, such as energy .
