The former defense minister of North Macedonia, Radmila Sekerinska, has been widely discussed for the deputy secretary general of NATO, a post for which former Bulgarian foreign minister and European commissioner Mariya Gabriel is also running for.

This was written by Politico, quoted by Dnevnik, in an analysis of the second most important position in NATO, after Mark Rutte took over the management of the alliance on October 1.

Sekerinska played a key role in the admission of Skopje to NATO four years ago and there is no doubt about her pro-Western orientation and loyalty.

Poland, Turkey and Latvia are also interested in the position, and only Latvia has indicated a name - that of former Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš, writes Politico.
