President Rumen Radev did not accept Kalin Stoyanov to remain in the position of Minister of Interior and refused to sign a decree appointing a caretaker government headed by Goritsa Grancharova-Kozhareva.
The head of state asked Goritsa Grancharova-Kozhareva to present a new candidate for interior minister by 3:00 p.m. According to Radev, Stoyanov would not guarantee the conducting of fair elections. Following Kozhareva's respose, the President said that the elections would be held after October 20 and that there would be no swearing-in of the caretaker government on August 20.
