Weather forecast for 28 August

Sunshine and brief showers with thunder

Overnight there will be considerable cloud over the eastern half of the country, with rain and thunder in some places. The western parts will remain sunny. Light to moderate winds will blow from the north-northeast.

On Wednesday, atmospheric patterns will remain unsettled. Before noon, cumulus and rain clouds will develop first over eastern Bulgaria and then over most of the country. There will be short, intense showers accompanied by thunderstorms. There is also a risk of hail. Winds will be light to moderate from north-northwest. Maximum temperatures will be in a wide range: from 25°-26°C in northeastern Bulgaria to 30°-33°C in places in the Danube Plain, the Upper Thracian Lowland and the Struma Valley. In Sofia, the maximum will be around 29°C.

There will be considerable cloud cover over the Black Sea coast. Before noon on the northern coast and after noon in more places there will be short, intense showers accompanied by thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures will be between 25 and 28°C. The sea water temperature will be 27°- 29°C. Sea swell will be 2-3. 

Cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop over the mountains and there will be short showers and thunderstorms in many places. There are also likely to be conditions for hail. The maximum temperature will be around 21°C at 1,200 metres and around 14°C at 2,000 metres.
