Burgas is turning into one big dance floor as eleven couples from eight countries compete for the World Championship Adult Showdance Latin title today. Among them are the recent gold medallists from Georgia and the runners-up from Germany.
"This is one of the most interesting events in our sport. Each couple has to perform a specially prepared Latin show in 3.30 minutes. This is different from mainstream sport, where couples go on the dance floor and are judged by a jury," said Yavor Valchev from the organising committee. It is the first time that Bulgaria has hosted this major forum.
The Bulgarian couple Emiliya Dzhelebova/Boris Borisov have a bitter story to tell with their dance about the defeat of love when the human ego is stronger. "We believe that the audience and the judges have felt such feelings and our dance will touch them. We decided to challenge ourselves and see how far our limits will go as there are a lot of backups in the shows," said the 24-year-old contestant.
The following day, the seaside city will host international sports and Latin dance tournaments.
