Bulgarian Parliament decides not to hold a referendum on the euro

The parliamentary majority composed of GERB-SDS, PP-DB, the parliamentary group of the MRF and two independent MPs rejected the proposal of MPs Vazrazhdane party and ITN party to hold a national referendum on the adoption of the euro. 

A total of 107 people's representatives voted against the question: "Do you agree that the Bulgarian lev should be the only official currency in Bulgaria until 2043?", and two abstained.

The proposal was supported by a total of 63 MPs from Vazrazhdane, ITN, BSP for Bulgaria and 12 MPs who are non-members of a parliamentary group.
