Iliana Ivanova returns to the European Court of Auditors

At today's meeting, the Bulgarian government approved the candidacy on behalf of Bulgaria for a member of the European Court of Auditors with a mandate from 2025 to 2030. 

This will be Bulgaria's current European Commissioner with the portfolio "Innovations, scientific research, culture, education and youth" Iliana Ivanova. She completed the mandate of Maria Gabriel, who became Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Nikolay Denkov.

The General Secretariat of the Council of the EU has informed Bulgaria that the mandate of the Bulgarian member of the Chamber expires on December 31, 2024, and according to the selection procedure, Bulgaria should send its proposal before September 30, 2024 for consultations with the European Parliament.

For the period 2013 - 2023, Iliana Ivanova is a member of the European Court of Auditors, performing various positions.
