On September 6, 1885, Bulgaria demonstrated that no artificial border can exist between Bulgarians. Today, we strive to remove the last one, artificially separating us from the European Union. United, we will succeed!", caretaker Premier Dimitar Glavchev wrote on Facebook.

The leader of GERB, Boyko Borissov, recalled the national motto "Unity makes strength".

''The Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia - an act that was possible because Bulgarians believed in themselves without waiting for a savior, and this changed our history", We Continue the Change Co-chairman Kiril Petkov said.

''Let us, together as Bulgarian citizens, preserve what has been bequeathed to us and uphold our national identity and European values. Let us find the causes that unite us in the name of the well-being of the people and a new beginning for our homeland'', said the chairman of the parliamentary group of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), Delyan Peevski.

"Happy holiday, Bulgarians! Let’s make Bulgaria free, independent and united again!", said the leader of Vazrazhdane, Kostadin Kostadinov.

''The Day of the Unification is the bright date that proves the greatness of the Bulgarian national ideal. Today, when Bulgaria is facing serious challenges, we are obliged to follow this great example", Bulgarian Socialist Party interim chairperson Atanas Zafirov said.

"The Day of the Unification is a celebration that makes each of us reflect on the importance of our unity. Today, more than ever, the Bulgarian people need unity, togetherness and cohesion—values that time requires us to preserve in order to live in a modern and European Bulgaria", wrote DPS chairman Dzhevdet Chakarov.
