The College of Prosecutors of the Supreme Judicial Council has agreed to resume the suspended procedure for the election of the Prosecutor-General. According to the adopted timetable, the hearing of the candidates and the election of a new Prosecutor General should take place on 16 January 2025.
At the end of August, the We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) coalition called on the current SJC not to elect a new Prosecutor-General because the SJC's mandate had expired.
