A new historical complex in Troyan opens its doors to history lovers

A new historical complex in Troyan honours the heroism of local Bulgarians who took part in the Balkan Wars (1912-1913), the First World War and the Second World War.

The complex presents the history of the 34th Troyan Infantry Regiment and its role in the wars for national unity through re-enactments, preserved artefacts, archival documents and informative displays, Hristo Kalisterski, chairman of the National Association "Tradition", told BTA.

Named "Balkantsi" after the regiment's battle march, the historical complex is housed in the birthplace of Spas Balevski, one of the regiment's heroes. The house, a cultural monument, is now a major new tourist attraction in the old mountain town.
