Karate athlete Ivet Goranova wins gold in Salzburg

Bulgaria's Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Ivet Goranova won a gold medal at the Karate1 Series A tournament in Salzburg, Austria, a key event in the 2024 karate calendar. 



The Bulgarian was victorious in the women's -55kg kumite category after a 5-4 victory over Japan's Rina Kodo in the final. Goranova recorded six consecutive victories on her way to the title. The competition was extremely strong, with 92 athletes from 43 countries competing in her category alone. 



This is Goranova's second gold medal of the month, having won the title at the 23rd International Karate Tournament in Rijeka, Croatia on 7 September.
