"I am happy and proud that Gianni Infantino has chosen Hristo Stoichkov to be in charge of all FIFA tournaments and projects, especially the Football in Schools programmes, in Eastern Europe. The announcement was made by legendary Bulgarian footballer and 1994 Ballon d'Or winner Hristo Stoichkov in Burgas, where he inaugurated a children's football tournament in the city's central Troikata Square.

Stoichkov accepted FIFA President Gianni Infantino's invitation to become the organisation's ambassador for Eastern Europe a month ago.
