Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniil has circulated a message to teachers, pupils and parents, on the occasion of the start of the school year starting today. “Remember always that the source of all true knowledge and wisdom is our Lord Jesus Christ,” he writes, and points out that “in its history, our Orthodox people has demonstrated their love of and dedication to education and literacy in which it finds a sound basis for their success and well-being.” The Bulgarian Patriarch goes on that the temporary trials we face as a nation and society should not discourage anyone in teaching and acquiring knowledge.
