In response to several publications and statements by Hungarian officials regarding the delivery of communication equipment to Lebanon and Syria, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry stressed that thorough investigations conducted by the State Agency for National Security (SANS) together with the National Revenue Agency, the Ministry of Interior and the Customs Agency have unequivocally proved that no communication equipment similar to those involved in the explosions in Lebanon and Syria was imported, exported or manufactured in Bulgaria.
"This was confirmed during a meeting at the Foreign Ministry with the Hungarian ambassador in Sofia. Bulgaria strongly objected to being involved in the case of supplying communication equipment to Lebanon and Syria," the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said, adding that Bulgaria insisted on responsible, evidence-based action from Budapest.
