A reception on the occasion of Bulgaria's Independence Day was organized at the Bulgarian Consulate in New York. Official guests were Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and Caretaker Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov.

Glavchev congratulated the Bulgarian citizens on the holiday and expressed his satisfaction that his visit to the USA on the occasion of the Summit of the Future coincided with Independence Day, and it was on this date that he could meet the Bulgarian community in New York.
"The USA is a symbol of democracy and independence, and you have proven yourself in the most competitive environment possible. We are trying to create conditions so that whoever wishes to return to Bulgaria feels good there," he added.

The Bulgarian ambassador to the USA, Georgi Panayotov, noted that this year the World Bank for the first time included Bulgaria in the list of the richest countries in the world, reports BTA.
