At the initiative of the Council of Europe, the European Day of Languages is celebrated every year on September 26. The initiative, supported by the European Commission and the Council of Europe, aims to promote cultural diversity and stimulate language learning. During these days, a number of events related to the cause are organized in the Member States. Today, in club "The Steps" in Sofia, from 11:00 to 13:00, a "Language Cafe" will be held, where everyone, even complete beginners, will be able to learn basic words in French, English, Finnish, Irish, Polish, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish... directly from native speakers.
Another interesting event is planned for September 28, Saturday. This is the Language Fair, which will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the City Garden in front of the Ivan Vazov National Theater in Sofia. The fair is organized by the Representative Office of the EC in Bulgaria together with BAS, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", linguistic and cultural institutes from the EUNIC cluster, consulates and embassies.
