The Council of Ministers approved the signing of a Security Cooperation Agreement between Bulgaria and Ukraine and Bulgaria's accession to the Ukraine Compact, presented during the NATO Summit in Washington in July. The Ukraine Compact was approved at a special event following the summit and was joined by 23 NATO members that had concluded bilateral security agreements with Ukraine at that time. The initiative aims to provide political support to Ukraine, as well as coordinate and accelerate efforts to assist Ukraine in the security field.

''The signing of the agreement and Bulgaria's subsequent accession to the Ukraine Compact will confirm our continued support and solidarity for Ukraine's legitimate fight against Russian aggression, as well as Bulgaria's willingness to continue to actively participate in international efforts to support Ukraine in the short and long term," the government said.
