Three anglers caught a giant catfish in Dyakovo dam near Dupnitsa. The fish could well enter the Guinness book of records, bTV reports.
The men who caught the fish – all three named Mario – Mario Hristov, Mario Spasov and Mario Danailov – say the fight with the fish was long and hard, and lasted about two hours. “Our hands were trembling and we were getting tired. We had to take turns every 20-30 minutes until we were able to tire it out and pull it in,” they say. It was a unique, high-adrenaline feeling. “We wanted to throw the animal back into the water but there was so much euphoria, so many photographs. It was traumatized and we were unable to save it,” the anglers said. The fish weighs 120 kgs., and is 2.70 metres long.
