Bulgaria is a leader in the export of agricultural products to China among Central and Eastern European countries, caretaker Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov said at a meeting with the Chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress of China, reported BTA.

Minister Tahov noted that in 2023, the value of agricultural exports has doubled compared to 2022, with the largest contribution coming from significantly increased supplies of corn and sunflower seeds. In 2023, trade in agricultural and food products between Bulgaria and China exceeded USD 640 million, which is nearly 38% above the 2022 level. Approximately 47% of Bulgaria's total exports to China consist of agricultural and food products. Imports of agricultural goods from China have decreased by 40%.
