Today, 26 October, has been declared a day of election silence in Bulgaria ahead of the snap elections for the 51st National Assembly. On this day, voters can reflect and decide how to vote. Since April 2021, this is the seventh early parliamentary election.

In Bulgaria, all forms of campaigning and opinion polling are banned 24 hours before polling day and on election day. Penalties are imposed for violations. All Bulgarian citizens over the age of 18 who are not prohibited from voting or serving a prison sentence have the right to vote in parliamentary elections.

Citizens of other countries, including EU Member States, are not eligible to vote for MPs, even if they have permanent residence status in the Republic of Bulgaria.

Voting takes place either on paper or electronically. Only paper ballots will be used in polling stations with less than 300 voters.
