Reading voters get a book as a present

Polling day in Reading, south-east England, is going smoothly. About 300 people are expected to vote. The town's only polling station uses only paper ballots.

This is the second time the polling station has been moved to a new address, but it is not clear whether this will affect the turnout, we learn from Victoria Vlahovska, a member of the local electoral commission.

Bulgarians in Reading, however, have an additional curious incentive to come to the polls - each voter will be given a book. The books have been donated by a fellow countryman in the English town.

"People are saying that they hope that this will be the last election in the National Assembly series. They are tired of campaigning, election days and voting in general, so they expect us to have a government and no new elections in the next four years," Victoria Vlahovska told Radio Bulgaria.

Whether that will be the case remains to be seen.
