“I call for restraint on the part of politicians and for a constructive dialogue because the formation of a regular and stable government, such as we all want, is in their hands,” said caretaker PM Dimitar Glavchev at the beginning of today’s cabinet sitting. “We are hoping the 51st parliament will be constituted quickly, and a regular and stable government will be formed that will have political support and will bear political responsibility,” PM Glavchev said. As regards the fairness of the election, he quoted an excerpt from the report by the observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe: “The early parliamentary elections held on 27 October in Bulgaria were competitive and professionally managed by the election administration (…) We once again commend the good organisation of the elections and the continuing efforts of an electorate exhausted by endless cycles of repeated elections.”

The Bulgarian PM said further that under the Public Finance Act, the deadline for submitting the budget to parliament is 31 October, but that because the new parliament has not been convened yet, there will be a delay.
