Konyovets village near Shumen is marking 160 years since the oldest stud farm in Bulgaria was set up. Celebrations are being organized on the farm on 1 November when officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and of the State Fund Agriculture will award longtime employees of Kabiuk stud farm as a leading enterprise in horse and sheep breeding, as well as for the preservation of indigenous breeds of cattle and sheep, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports. The Horse Museum and the museum exposition at the residence of Prince Alexander I Battenberg will be open to visitors free of charge. Other events include a horse parade, a farmers’ market for local producers, as well as a children’s corner with ponies.

On the next day – 2 November – horse races will be organized on the race track, and stallions and mares will be presented from seven major selected elite breeds – purebred Arabian, purebred English, Shagya Arabian, East Bulgarian, Pleven, as well as a herd of Haflinger horses and Shetland ponies.
