Nineteen people have been detained last night for drug possession during a special police operation on the territory of Sofia, the Interior Ministry has announced.

Cannabis, ecstasy and more than 400 canisters of laughing gas, as well as alcohol with old excise stickers were found during the raids of 30 night clubs and the search of more than 300 persons. Almost 40 unaccompanied minors were found in the discotheques in the early hours; their parents have been issued notices for an administrative offence under the Child Protection Act.

Thirty-five people were arrested in a specialized police operation recently, again in Sofia, for possession and cultivation of drugs, domestic violence, aggravated assault and other criminal acts, the Bulgarian news agency BTA reports.
