Vote recount can only happen after decision of the Constitutional Court

"When I look at the CCTV footage, I have the feeling that some of the sectional election commissions did not work according to the rules." That is how chair of the CEC, Kamelia Neikova, commented information about manipulations related to the parliamentary election on October 27. She gave an example with the section in Belitsa.

"The recording clearly shows how one of the members of the local election commission writes something in the left part of the paper ballots and the other members of the commission don't seem to notice what is happening in front of them," Kamelia Neikova said. According to her, this is not the only case. When it comes to Velichie, which is 21 votes short to enter parliament, the CEC chair said: "In two polling stations, we found eight votes that were not entered into the counting center of the Regional Election Commission and we made this correction.”

Ballot recount could take place in all or some of the polling stations only after an appeal to the Constitutional Court, Kamelia Neikova recalled. She also said that the CEC has not yet received official information about the missing footage from the counting of ballots on election night. When the executive authority provides the data, they will be analysed in the commission and in case of violations fines will be imposed on the members of the Sectional Election Commissions.

"There must be consequences when the video recordings show violations in the counting of the ballots and the preparation of the protocols," Kamelia Neikova said.
