The Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (APS) of Ahmed Dogan - the honorary chairman of the former DPS movement - announced its support for the PP-DB declaration for a sanitary cordon around Delyan Peevski's formation - DPS - New Beginning. APS said that Parliament should investigate the role of Peevski, who has been sanctioned by the US for corruption, in the bankruptcies of the private bank KTB and Bulgaria's largest tobacco company Bulgartabac Holding, as well as his influence in the prosecutor's office.

The Alliance said that the next government must, as a matter of urgency, initiate a procedure to elect an ombudsman and deputy chairmen of the National Audit Office. They also called on the President to refer the election irregularities to the Constitutional Court.

"Our support will be unwavering for any initiative that seeks a recount of the ballots and a complete annulment of the elections," said Valentin Tonchev of the APS.

A split in the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) party in October, amid an apparent battle for control over the DPS between its leaders Peevski and Dogan, led to the formation of the "two DPS". The two warring factions sought separate registrations for the early elections on 27 October. Those behind Peevski ran as the DPS-New Beginning coalition, while Dogan's faction formed the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms coalition.
