The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has announced the release of Dzheyhan Ibryamov. He will be released from custody tomorrow, November 7, and the investigation against him on charges of influence peddling will be suspended at the moment he takes the oath of office as an MP, as he acquires immunity, Sofia City Prosecutor Iliana Kirilova told journalists.

"We consider it reasonable for him to appear and take the oath like everyone else," Kirilova said. Only after Ibryamov has been granted immunity will the supervising prosecutors decide whether to ask for it to be revoked.

Ibryamov has been in custody since early October, after he was detained with 100 000 leva in marked banknotes in a raid by the anti-corruption commission during the election campaign. As a result, his immunity as a DPS candidate and deputy in the 50th National Assembly was lifted. In the parliamentary elections on 27 October, he was elected as an MP for the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms.

President Rumen Radev convened the National Assembly on 11 November.
