The national painting triennial with the theme "Bridges" will bring together 84 contemporary artists who will show 106 works in the Hristo Tsokev Art Gallery in Gabrovo.

This year's theme of the exhibition - "Bridges" -  includes two aspects, explains Dr. Nelly Nedeva, curator and PR of the gallery.

"In a philosophical aspect, the bridge is an expression of man's eternal desire to overcome, to conquer, to know, to connect", she adds. "The bridge can also be considered as one of the most significant structures built by man. It belongs to all and is the same for all, overcoming distances, built always where human needs and destinies intersect the most.”

The exhibition seems to lead us along a spiritual bridge to the creative ideas of each author, in his or her thoughts and emotions.

"Among the long list of names, those of some of the most emblematic contemporary Bulgarian artists stand out," says Dr. Nelly Nedeva.

The third edition of the triennial is opening today, November 8, and at it the awards will be presented to the distinguished authors - among them the grand prize of the Municipality of Gabrovo and the two awards of the gallery for a young author. Partners of the event are the Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Gabrovo and the Union of Bulgarian Artists.
