Bulgarian open-water swimmer Tsanko Tsankov swam one of the most difficult swimming marathons in the Ocean's Seven, his manager Nikolai Iliev reported. Tsankov swam the longest of the seven marathons, from the Molokai Island to Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, in 16 hours and 23 minutes. The distance is 26 nautical miles in a straight line, but Tsanko Tsankov swam more kilometers due to the harsh conditions in the ocean. According to the boat’s GPS, Tsanko Tsankov covered a distance of 32.04 miles.
Shortly before the end of the swim, a strong wave overturned the swimmer several times, who hit the rocks and injured his arm and back.
‘’I dedicate this success to Bulgaria and my family. I went through many difficulties, but I managed to finish on the shore in Oahu. The conditions were tough, especially at night when there was a strong storm and rain”, said Tsanko Tsankov.
