The catastrophic natural disasters we are witnessing are an unfortunate reminder that the world has to adapt to the changing climate, said Bulgarian President Rumen Radev in an interview with the economic magazine Caspian Energy, cited by the presidential press service.
In the context of the hosting of the 29th session of the UN Climate Change Conference by Azerbaijan, the Bulgarian head of state laid emphasis on the need of cooperation for a timely response to the changing climate and enhancing the sustainability of the countries. “We will be more effective if we make joint efforts and share technologies, resources and approaches to coping with the climate challenges,” he said.
The transition to a climate neutral and circular economy must be socially fair, he said. “It is our principal aim to guarantee the sustainability of this transformation, without undermining people’s living standards and the competitiveness of the economy,” Rumen Radev said.
In answer to a question about the development of the relations between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan, Rumen Radev expressed this country’s readiness to build upon the economic partnership, including in the context of the strategic energy cooperation with the EU, which affords options for reliable gas deliveries to Central and Eastern Europe via the southern gas corridor.
