The Council of Ministers has approved the draft of a donation agreement between the World Health Organization and Bulgaria on the provision of a voluntary contribution, amounting to EUR 100,000, in support of the activities of the organization in the Gaza Strip. The funding will be provided from the budget of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, earmarked for development and humanitarian aid.

Our choice of international organization our contribution will be directed to is motivated by the grave situation in the health sector in Gaza. A total of 84% of the medical establishments have been destroyed and the healthcare system has collapsed due to the critical shortage of medicines, fuel, medical staff and equipment, and the growing number of wounded, the statement by the government press service reads. Within our capabilities, the country is consistent in the support rendered for overcoming the grave humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip after the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel on 7 October, 2023, the government press service statement reads further.
