The members of parliament will continue their session at 10 AM on November 22, following yet another unsuccessful attempt to elect a Speaker of the National Assembly. In the last vote on Wednesday, November 20, the candidacies of Raya Nazaryan from GERB-SDS and Silvi Kirilov from There is Such a People (ITN) received the most support and reached a runoff.
In the runoff, the candidate of the largest parliamentary group GERB-SDS, Raya Nazaryan, was again supported only by her colleagues from GERB-SDS. Silvi Kirilov received support from ITN, Vazrazhdane, the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms, MECH and 17 MPs from We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB).
The candidates in the first round were Natalia Kiselova, nominated by BSP-United Left, Petar Petrov from Vazrazhdane, Raya Nazaryan from GERB-SDS and Silvi Kirilov from ITN.
After the vote that did not lead to the election of a National Assembly Speaker, the first session of the 51st National Assembly was once again suspended and will continue today at 10 am.
