“We find the proposal of Boyko Borissov as premier of Bulgaria absolutely unacceptable, we are not going to be involved in any trading in positions.” This is the answer We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria (PP/DB) gave to the proposal by GERB leader Boyko Borissov - “the parliamentary speaker – for them, the premier – for us”, referring to himself as prospective prime minister, and Atanas Atanasov from PP/DB – as president of the National Assembly.
According to Pp/DB, the only solution for a way out of the severe political crisis is the formation of a pro-European government, with an equidistant prime minister, that will guarantee the isolation of the leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) - New Beginning Delyan Peevski from any positions of power in the country.
“It is looking more and more like what Borissov actually wants is to block the work of the National Assembly, so that the election of Borislav Sarafov as prosecutor general for the next 7 years will not be suspended,” PP/DB says.
PP/DB say they will meet with representatives of GERB, if the party “makes up its mind to talk about the cordon sanitaire and the elimination of Peevski’s influence, as a sine qua non so the country can move forward and find a way out of the crisis”.
