Representatives of the Food Safety Agency have arrived in Velingrad to take new samples from the 1,700 sheep quarantined because of a suspected plague outbreak.

BNR correspondent in Pazardzhik Nevena Petrova reported that the Food Agency officials were prevented by the owner of the largest elite flock of sheep Dimitar Iliev on the grounds that they had not identified themselves.

Iliev urged agency representatives to take samples from other farms and warned that he would fight for his animals. After an appeal on social media, other breeders and citizens have also come to him.
