The due date for preventing the prospect of Borislav Sarafov taking the position of prosecutor general is drawing close, as is the deadline for coordinating the budget, Ivaylo Mirchev from Democratic Bulgaria said in an interview with public service TV BNT.
He pointed out that the party will act with a sense of responsibility to the Bulgarian voters because parliament must start functioning. “I do believe we look absolutely ridiculous in people’s eyes – forcing them to go to the polls seven times in the space of three years,” Ivaylo Mirchev said and added that they will probably have to go to the polls for the eighth time if the MPs continue in the same way.
As regards the two MPs from the coalition We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria (PP/DB) Yavor Bozhankov and Daniel Lorer, whose resignations were demanded by PP for refusing to vote for Silvi Kirilov for president of the National Assembly, Ivaylo Mirchev said they would remain in the PP/DB group.
“Expelling someone is not the way to cope with these problems, dialogue and talks is,” Ivaylo Mirchev said. It is a normal thing for a party leader to want all members to vote as a team, Mirchev said further, in a comment on the Facebook post by PP co-chair Kiril Petkov, who wrote: "After today's vote for Speaker of the National Assembly, 'We Continue the Change' (PP) demanded the resignations of Daniel Lorer and Yavor Bozhankov".
