PP-DB will not support a candidate for Speaker of the 51st Parliament from any party that has not supported the coalition's declaration for a cordon sanitaire against Delyan Peevski. They pointed out that this was the only way to isolate the leader of "DPS - New Beginning" "from all power influences in this country". This became clear from the words of Kiril Petkov from PP after the eighth unsuccessful attempt to elect the Speaker of the National Assembly. According to Atanas Atanasov from DB, new candidates must be sought, "because ultimately the National Assembly must function".

The election is being made more difficult due to the amendments to the Constitution introduced by the National Assembly in 2023, according to which, if a regular government cannot be formed, the caretaker government can be headed by the President of the National Assembly. The caretaker government is responsible for organizing the parliamentary elections. The draft with the amendments was proposed by PP-DB, GERB-SDS and DPS with Delyan Peevski as the chairman of the parliamentary group.
