Prosecutor's Office and Interior Ministry declare zero tolerance for violence 

An increased police presence at Christmas bazaars and shopping centres is part of the measures

At a national meeting convened by acting Prosecutor-General Borislav Sarafov to discuss the rise in public and domestic violence, it was declared that the Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of the Interior would not tolerate such crimes.

"Under my leadership, I expect the Prosecutor's Office to be uncompromising in enforcing the law," said Borislav Sarafov. He added that constant criticism of the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor's Office should not discourage the two institutions from doing their job.

The Prosecutor-General also said that the political crisis should not spill over into the judiciary and become an institutional crisis.

Caretaker Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov said that part of the planned measures would include an increased police presence at Christmas bazaars and shopping centres where pre-holiday crowds are expected.
