President Rumen Radev awards prominent Bulgarian athletes with the Presidential Badge of Honor

Today, President Rumen Radev awarded prominent Bulgarian athletes with the Presidential Badge of Honor. At a ceremony at the presidential institution, Nonka Matova, Tanya Bogomilova, Vessela Letcheva, Armen Nazaryan, Albena Denkova and Ivet Lalova were awarded the Presidential Badge of Honor for outstanding merits in the development of Bulgarian sport, the Olympic Movement and the building of young talents.

Shooting athlete Nonka Matova competed in seven Olympic Games and won over 600 medals in sports competitions, including Olympic games, World and European Championships. Swimmer Tanya Bogomilova won the gold medal in the 100 m breaststroke at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Shooting athlete Vessela Letcheva won two silver medals at the 1998 Olympics in Seoul and the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Wrestler Armen Nazaryan won a gold medal for Bulgaria at the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000. Albena Denkova is a two-time world champion in figure skating and Ivet Lalova is a European champion in the 100 and 200 meters sprint events in 2012 and 2016.
