The hearing of the only candidate nominated for prosecutor general, current acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov, is to take place on 16 January, 2025, the plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has confirmed, with two votes “against”.

In a comment on the decision, communications expert Vessislava Tancheva said the protracted procedure of electing president of the National Assembly was a show “obviously put on so as to bring early elections closer and postponing any form of legislation, so that Borislav Sarafov can take up the post of prosecutor general in mid-January,” she said in an interview with the BNR.

Once again, no nominations for chairman of the Supreme Administrative Council were made at the meeting of the SJC plenum. The deadline for submitting nominations is 19 December, and the election is to take place on 20 March, 2025.
