A second multipurpose modular patrol vessel newly built for the Bulgarian Navy was launched ahead of schedule at the MTG Dolphin shipyard in Varna. The contract for the construction of the two vessels was signed in 2020, said Flotilla Admiral Vanyo Musinski, Deputy Commander of the Navy. The new vessel is named "Smeli" and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

The first multipurpose ship, "Hrabri",  is currently at the dock and is being equipped. It will join the Navy by the end of 2025. Vanyo Musinski clarified that the operational capabilities of the two patrol vessels will be developed in stages. They will also be equipped with additional modules for electronic warfare. Their hydro-acoustic capabilities will be upgraded. The training of the two crews has begun. Some of their members completed a course in anti-submarine warfare in Italy.
