New trainings for pilots and medical specialists for the needs of air transport emergency medical operations are planned for January. 36 doctors and nurses, as well as several more pilots will be undergoing HEMS training (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service).

According to Health Ministry data, more than 100 medical specialists underwent initial air transport emergency medical training last year. Nineteen doctors and 29 nurses are on duty at the Emergency Air Medical Aid Centre. More than 45 life-saving missions have been carried out since the first medical helicopter mission took place at the beginning of June. The helicopter is operated by 5 pilots, 12 have been trained to fly it.

According to the latest information from the medical helicopter producer the country has a contract with, the second vehicle commissioned should be delivered at the end of February, and the third – at the end of March. Keeping the deadlines is at risk because of the lack of important components.
