Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant and Westinghouse Electric Company concluded a contract on conducting a safety analysis for the licensing of an alternative nuclear fuel type for Unit 6 of the NPP. The signing was attended by caretaker Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov.

Westinghouse CEO and PresidentPatrick Fragman noted that this was the conclusion of a long process and a new beginning for the development of the relations between the company and the NPP, and of new projects.

Kozloduy NPP’s cooperation with the US company first began in the sphere of control and management systems, then fuel supply diversification, to reach the current stage of constructing new capacities. Patrick Fragman confirmed his company’s readiness to connect the future Unit 7 of the Kozloduy NPP to the European energy network in 2034.
